Introduction
Eleanor Barr began practicing law 18 years ago as a litigator of
complex civil cases. In 1999, she established herself as a full-time
mediator and has since built a thriving mediation practice specializing
in legally and emotionally complex cases. She successfully mediates
for many of California’s top law firms.
Eleanor’s success
at settling cases attests to her skill at distilling legal issues,
her extensive litigation experience, and her ability to defuse the
emotional issues that often underlie conflict. Over
the years, Eleanor has developed a highly effective mediation style
that emphasizes communication, legal clarity and a tenacious commitment
to reaching resolution.
Litigation
Experience
Eleanor
was a named partner (under her maiden name, Oths) at Denney &
Oths in Glendale, California where she focused on business, environmental
and employment litigation. Prior to that, Eleanor was an associate
at Glassman & Browning where she litigated in the areas of entertainment
and First Amendment law. She has represented corporate and individual
clients, as plaintiffs and defendants, in all stages of litigation
including mediations, arbitrations, trials and appeals. Eleanor’s
experience in litigating complex, multi-party lawsuits has been
instrumental in her ability to resolve such cases as a mediator.
Achievements,
Affiliations, and Education
Eleanor is a member of the International Academy of Mediators and
co-chairs the ADR Committee of the Business Law Section of the State
